| Script Commentary |
Script is a transition minuscule clearly betraying Merovingian and Insular influences: many letters have a knob-like fore-stroke; the shafts of b and l break near the foot as in some Merovingian types; the hand on foll. 21–22 is very crude, that on fol. 22v is more calligraphic and has Rhaetian features; foll. 23–24v, originally left blank, contain the hymn 'Almus altus agnus', entered soon after by an inexpert Insular scribe or by a hand imitating Insular script. Probationes pennae saec. XI on fol. 1, otherwise blank. |
