Origin and Provenance

Written in Ireland. Rewritten in the ninth century at Clondalkin (Co. Leinster), as is proved by the ex-libris entered by one of the hands of the upper script: '(Libe)r trinitatis et sci cronáni filii lugaedón.' Both this and the similar scrap, MS Fragm. Aug. 17, were detached from the binding of MS Aug. 167, the Irish manuscript of Bede.

Script Commentary

Script is somewhat compressed Irish majuscule: n is minuscule, R majuscule, both S and occur. The following words can be deciphered on fol. 1v reproduced on CLA plate: '(initial) O . . . . tris unigenitus . . gnus mariae . . mogenito humani generis . . . missum.'
