Origin and Provenance

Written in South Bavaria, presumably in the circle of the calligrapher Dominicus of Tegernsee or even by Dominicus himself. Rewritten with a theological treatise towards the end of the twelfth century. Belonged to the monastery of St Mang at Füssen, whose seventeenth-century ex-libris stands on fol. 1. Came to Maihingen after the dissolution of the monastery in 1803.

Script Commentary

Script is roundish and graceful early Caroline minuscule closely resembling that used by Dominicus, the scribe of Munich CLM 18092 (CLA 9.1315): a has two forms; the shaft of q is swung; the eye of e in ligatures is open.
