Origin and Provenance

Written at Freising as evidenced by the script. Provenance the cathedral library of Freising: the familiar twelfth-century ex-libris stands on fol. 1, the printed ex-libris on fol. 1v . Our manuscript served as exemplar for CLM 14537, saec. VIII ex., from St Emmeram at Regensburg (CLA 9.1304).

Script Commentary

Script is early Caroline minuscule by six different hands; the main hand is roundish and recalls the type in CLM 6279, 6299 (part 1), and 6308 (CLA 9.1259, 1265, and 1271) the graceful, expert script on foll. 217v, 218v, etc., is also seen in CLM 6282 (on fol. 87v) and 6434 (on fol. 77v, etc.); the hand on fol. 61v, etc., uses Insular .
