Origin and Provenance

Written in an Anglo-Saxon scriptorium, presumably in Germany. The date '1627' stands on foll, 1, 2, 3, 8; the fragments must have been used for binding records of that year.

Script Commentary

Script is a neat, slender Anglo-Saxon minuscule by two scribes: descenders are often very long; a is made in three strokes; r and s have two forms. A cross is seen in the upper left-hand corner of several rectos.
