Script Uncial and Rustic Capital
Date VII ex–VIII¹ (676 - 750)
Origin and Provenance

Written as additions to a sixth-century Gospel Book from Italy: the prologues and restoration leaves were added in an Anglo-Saxon centre, with Northumbrian traditions, to judge from the script, towards the end of the seventh century; the canon tables were apparently written by an Anglo-Saxon, to judge from the quality of the Rustic Capitals, but their decoration is distinctly Frankish. For later history, see preceding item.
