Written in an important centre of legal studies in the Eastern part of the Roman Empire, probably at Byzantium. It is worth noting that nearly all the manuscripts written in this type of script are legal in content. Acquired by the John Rylands Library in 1917. |

Script Commentary |
Script is roundish uncial of the distinct type also found in CLA 2.211, 3.292 and 293, 4.488, 9.1351, 10.1535, and in others, the most celebrated representative being the Florentine Digests (CLA 3.295): the characteristic letters are tall B with the lower bow resembling an inclined oval and R with the bow descending to the base-line and the final stroke nearly horizontal; the hasta of E is long and thin; the tail of G is long. |
