Origin and Provenance

Written presumably in an Anglo-Saxon centre on the Continent, to judge by the script. The fragment was used as a jacket for a book which in 1573 was at Innsbruck according to a note on fol. 1.

Script Commentary

Script is an elegant pointed Anglo-Saxon minuscule: d has two forms; descenders of p, q, r, and are very long; the oblique of z thrusts boldly below the line. Numerous corrections by a Caroline hand saec. X–XI.
