Written probably in England, in a centre under Irish influence. The Cambridge leaf was a specimen in Pepys's 'Calligraphical collection', the London leaf is from a scrap-book of fragments gathered by the shoemaker and antiquary John Bagford (1650–1716), Pepys's contemporary. |
